Mr Watts initially trained (July 1997 to November 1998) at a three partner general practice and then completed his training at Haslers (November 2000), which is a top 50, multi-disciplinary firm of accountants with 11 partners. Mr Watts then went on to become a Corporate Finance Partner in January 2007 and since January 2009 has headed up the department.

Summary of experience

Mr Watts’ corporate finance work has recently included the following:

  • Investigatory work in an alleged fraud at a Care Home, which involved reporting to the local authority with the findings of the investigation
  • Lead advisory role for the vendors in the disposal of a telecoms business (Consideration range £10-15m).
  • Acting for a company with two shareholders in dispute and agreeing a way forwards to de-merge the business into two separate entities
  • Due Diligence work on acquisitions, this includes investigations into the underlying profitability of the business
  • Carrying out a review of the accounting systems of an international media business to ensure the appropriate revenues were being accounted for to our client under the terms of a commercial contract between the two parties
  • Acted as a reporting accountant for a reverse takeover of an AIM listed company
  • Preparing forecasts/projections for bank funding purposes and budgeting purposes
  • Acting as an expert accountant on a number of matters
